The forth round of World Supersport took
place today at Assen. Hannes started the race from 15th position and
although he lost one place by the end of the first lap, he up'ed the
tempo and by the end of the 13th he reached 10th position. For the next
five laps Hannes battled with Loris Cresson (Yamaha) and Ayrton Badovini
(MV Augusta) and crossed the finish line 11th. Luke Stapleford, who
started from P5 got a time penalty and so Hannes gained another position
to 10th.
"We changed the setup for the race based on the mornings warm-up and it went the right way and made riding easier. The start was good but going to the back straight I lost a little bit of time and stayed with the second group. When I got through it was difficult to catch the front group on my own. The speed was there and if I'd made a better first lap I could have stayed with the first group and that is important. A big thank you to the team and it seems the we got back on our feet after a difficult start of the season. This is not only important to me but the the whole team and now we can go to Imola with a great feeling!" - Hannes
The next round of World Supersport will take place in three weeks time
on the 11th - 13th of May at Imola in Italy. Last year Hannes finished
16th there.
