Hannes Soomer was third in Free Practices at Aragon!


Hannes Soomer (Kallio Racing, Yamaha) had the 3rd time in the Free Practices of the fourth round of the Supersport World Championship in Aragon, Spain today.

The air temperature in Aragon is around 30 degrees, the track was 39 degrees in FP1. In the morning, Soomer even showed the second time, being 0.6 seconds slower than the Italian Andrea Locatelli (BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team), who is chasing a record sixth consecutive race victory.

In FP2, Frenchman Jules Cluzel (GMT94 Yamaha) wedged himself between Locatelli and Soomer. The first two were one of the few to improve lap times in the afternoon as it got windier and the temperature rose, Soomer's best time was in the first free practice. In today's combined results, Soomer and Locatelli, whose time was 1.54,308, were separated by 0.841 seconds.

“Today was the day when all the puzzle pieces came together. The change did not come from one thing, but it depends on many small details. We have turned the lessons we have learned to our advantage and together with the team made the bike work well for the rider, ”said Hannes Soomer. "We pat ourselves on the back for a successful day in the office, but we certainly don't jump to the ceiling. Tomorrow is a new day and tomorrow we want to be closer to the goal of riding consistently in the top five.”

The qualification of the World SSP takes place on Saturday at 12:40 Estonian time, the first race at 16:15, the second race is on Sunday at 13:30.

After three rounds, Soomer holds 9th position at the World Championships with 39 points.
