Hannes Soomer (Kallio Racing, Yamaha) is testing in Aragon, Spain on Thursday and Friday and will arrive in Pärnu on Sunday for the start of the opening stage of the Estonian Championship.
The two-day test in Aragon is not a WSBK/WSSP official test but, according to Soomer, most of the riders should be there.
"Although I have been training in the meantime, there has been a long break from working with the Kallio Racing team," said Soomer. "This test is crucial to refresh memory and cooperation. It is like the second beginning of the season, which everyone is preparing for. As the following season will be very short and intense, you have to be quick from the first race.”
Soomer will arrive in Pärnu directly from Spain on Sunday morning. "For me, this is the first competition in almost half a year and an ideal opportunity to put the race mode back on before the World Championship season starts again," said Soomer.
The qualification for the Superbike class starts at auto24ring on Sunday, July 19 at 11:40, the race at 5 pm. You can find information about the Estonian Championship round here: https://msport.ee/events/motoringraja-emv-i-etapp-3/
So far there has been only one race in the World SSP series this year - the season opener in Australia. Soomer took his best result ever at Phillip Island, achieving P6.
The race calendar has now been changed so that the next stage will take place on August 2 at the Jerez circuit in Spain. There are currently 12 stages in the calendar, the last of which is in late autumn in Qatar. See the updated calendar for more details: https://www.worldsbk.com/en/calendar
