Hannes Soomer (Kallio Racing, Yamaha) had the 4th time in the Free Practices of the fifth round of the Supersport World Championship in Aragon, Spain today.
Already a week ago, on the round that took place on the same circuit in Aragon, Soomer showed good speed, being in the top three in Free Practices, but unfortunately had to retire from both races. "We started today from the same place and with the same setting as we left off last Sunday," said Soomer. "The events of last weekend have been forgotten and we are going to the competition from a new page."
The air temperature in Aragon is around 30 degrees, it is predicted to be as hot on Saturday and Sunday as well. In both of the Free Practices, the Italian Andrea Locatelli (BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team) was fastest again, Soomer was 0.937 slower than him.
As the races take place on the same track for two weeks in a row, Soomer and his teammates also had some time to relax a bit. "It was pretty good to go swimming in the Mediterranean for a while and disengage ourselves from racing. I was also doing some things for school,” said Soomer, who studies at Tallinn University of Applied Sciences.
The qualification of the World SSP takes place on Saturday at 12:40 Estonian time, the first race at 16:15, the second race is on Sunday at 13:30.
Before the fifth round, Soomer holds the 10th position at the World Championships with 39 points.
