The 21-year-old Estonian FIM World Supersport Championship rider Hannes Soomer joins the Finnish team Kallio Racing for the 2020 WSSP season.
Soomer, who was consistently the fastest Honda rider on the WSSP grid during the 2019 season, was a member of the MPM WILSport Racedays team in the 2017-19 seasons but had been co-operating with the people behind the team since his European Junior Cup years starting from 2013. The co-operation between Kallio Racing and Soomer started back in 2015 when Soomer participated with a wild card at the WSSP race in Magny-Cours, France.
Vesa Kallio, owner of Kallio Racing: „It's nice to be able to work with Hannes again. Now it is important to find confidence in the bike and in his riding from the very first tests, so that we are ready at the season opening in Australia. I'm confident that with hard work we will get good results with Hannes!“
„I am happy to be back with Kallio Racing for 2020,“ said Hannes Soomer. „It is clear that Kallio Racing is one of the top level teams on the World Supersport grid and I am keen to find out what we can accomplish together. I think me and the team have similar ambitions for the coming season which is to fight for top positions consistently. This means a lot of work before the start of the season which could not come soon enough for me!“
In Kallio Racing, Soomer joins the 26-year-old Spanish rider Isaac Viñales, for the 2020 bid. With the riders, preparations for season 2020 have already started in the end of November 2019 with tests in Cartagena and Jerez, Spain.
The World Supersport season 2020's first race will be held in Australia, Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on 28th of February - 1st of March 2020. Full FIM World Supersport calendar for season 2020: www.worldsbk.com/en/calendar
